Intermittent email connectivity on Shared Servers in Johannesburg

Email services have now stabilised and are operating normally. We will continue to monitor performance closely.

We are removing the email status feedback tool now that the email service has stabilised. If you continue to experience any difficulty sending or receiving email, please contact our Support team so that we can investigate and assist you.

Customers on servers affected by this incident will receive an incident report detailing what happened, the actions taken to restore reliable email service and steps we’re taking in response to this incident. We’ll email the report to affected customers as soon as it’s available.

Our engineers continued working on email migrations last night, with our monitoring tools showing stable email performance across the affected servers even as the load increased with email activity.

Should you continue experiencing difficulty sending and receiving email and your email is hosted on one of the affected servers, please let us know using our email status and feedback tool so that our team can investigate and prioritise the problem. If you’re uncertain, please use the tool to check whether your domain still resides on our standard storage tier:

Our next status update will be at 15h00 SAST on Tuesday, 8 September. These updates will continue until we fully restore and stabilise email services.

We’re sorry this update is later than promised.

Our teams continue to focus all efforts on resolving the situation for those customers who remain on our standard storage tier. While email service is not fully restored for these customers, we are seeing encouraging signs of improvement:

    – Improved email delivery rates
    – A significant reduction of email queues
    – Improvement in disk performance

Planned email disruption from 18h00 tonight

We have secured new hardware that will allow us to resume migrations to our premium storage tier tonight: Monday, 7 September. In order to ensure we are able to migrate as many servers as possible overnight, we will turn off email services at 18h00 for domains still on our standard storage tier.

You can check whether your email service is still on our standard storage tier, and whether it’s scheduled for migration tonight, by using our email status and feedback tool: https://email-report.xneelo.co.za

In parallel, our engineers continue configuration work that has already brought some improvement for a subset of affected customers.

After this overnight maintenance period, if you continue to have difficulty accessing your email outside of these migration periods, please report this to us using the email status and feedback tool, so that our team can investigate: https://email-report.xneelo.co.za

We can confirm that those customers already migrated have had their email service fully restored. This means that sending/receiving is operating normally and stability has been observed for a period of time.

We continue to work around the clock to resolve service for all affected customers. We will provide our next update at 09h00 SAST on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.
